half birthday was brought to my attention back in June when I heard their single, veins. So when they quietly put out like a headache, I expected something likewise subdued and drowsy, sleepy and dreamy.
But when I heard like a headache, rather than sounding sleepy, its sound distinctly felt like waking up. I know I'm not the only one who prefers short releases to longer ones. And half birthday's latest is four tracks of melodic bliss, sure to fill you up just as effectively as something LP-length.
Bearing an auditory resemblance to such artists as Hovvdy, LVL UP, and (Sandy) Alex G, to name a few, half birthday has a handle on nostalgia-tinged indie.
I won't be surprised when half birthday catches on with the rest of the music world.
